Michel

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Michel lives in a foster home in Germany. There he lives together with other dogs. Michel has been able to integrate very well into the existing pack. Initially, he shows a reserved behavior towards strangers, but he becomes a cuddly bear once he has gained some trust. His foster home describes Michel as a snuggler, who is simply a lovable creature. He is a cozy and reserved dog who tends to show a submissive behavior. Michel is as happy as "Bolle" when his people come home and then he squeaks with joy at the reunion. The world outside the property is still unfamiliar to him. However, walks are now possible. Michel is happy in his garden. Here he feels safe and free. Michel allows his humans to take objects from him without any problems. His future home will have to have patience and perseverance in many things. Michel does not like the harness at all, while putting on a collar is possible. Car trips in the dog crate are no problem for Michel. The dog endured a visit to the veterinarian without a sound. Now we are looking for a permanent and loving home for Michel. This home must meet certain requirements for the adoption of this lovable dog. Michel needs patience, love, calmness, and a family that will support him positively in all his further developmental stages. In his future home there should already be a confident first dog and it should be located in a rural and quiet area. We wish for Michel to have a securely fenced yard so he can move freely. If you want to give Michel a fixed place in your life and your living conditions can meet Michel's needs, then we look forward to your inquiry. Adopting a rescue dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs bring along a backpack full of past experiences or situations they haven't learned yet and need time to adjust to their new life. Here goes Michel's video Here goes Video 2

About Michel

What life with Michel looks like

Michel is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Michel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Michel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Michel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Michel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Michel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Michel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Michel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
