adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! Rest in Peace, little Mickey…quite unexpectedly you left us… His story: Mickey was found together with his sister Minnie by the roadside in the middle of nowhere. It is likely they were abandoned there to their fate, but fate had it good with the two little ones. When our team found them, they were covered in ticks. The two siblings probably wouldn’t have made it through the winter. On the way to our private shelter in Busag, the two were completely exhausted and fell asleep. Now they are waiting there for the start of their new life. Mickey looks into the camera with his cute black button eyes, still somewhat skeptically. He is a very curious and playful little guy, but he needs a moment to get used to being petted and stroked. A little treat with his favorite snacks works wonders, so it doesn’t take long for him to build trust. Mickey is looking for people who don’t have any expectations of him and show him how a normal doggy life works. He is still young and needs to learn a lot. Sometimes a little mishap shouldn’t be held against him, and Mickey should always be guided with a positive and reinforcing training style. He is already looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, many snuggling hours, and also a visit to the dog training class. In the first year of life, dogs should not be left alone as much as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the little rascals’ lives upside down. They “forget” a lot of what they have learned so far, and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to be consistent— but lovingly—trained. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Have your interest been piqued? Then don’t wait. Mickey should not spend the rest of his life in the shelter. As soon as Mickey has all his vaccinations, he is ready for his new life. Then he will be fully vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and microchipped. He will also bring his EU pet passport. Against an adoption fee of 500 Euros, Mickey can be adopted. Alternatively, he would also be happy to stay in a foster home. Thank you, Gabi C.! You gave Mickey his name and thus the start of a new life. As of: 15.10.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Ruhe in Frieden, kleiner Mickey…völlig unerwartet hast du uns verlassen… Stand: 15.10.2024

About Mickey

What life with Mickey looks like

Mickey is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mickey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mickey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mickey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mickey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mickey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mickey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mickey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
