adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Mickey has found a home! His story: Mickey Mouse in Sheep's Clothing! The little Mickey arrived in Germany in early January and is a true treasure, loving, friendly, and incredibly cuddly. With his wonderful black-brown fur pattern and playful ears, he is likely a German Shepherd-Mix-puppy. Mickey is puppy-like, playful, and very cuddly. He is open with his people and meets strangers calmly and curiously. He still has a great respect for cars but does not panic, instead orienting himself to his people and seeking their protection. On the leash, he already runs well, though this is still being worked on. He is also nearly house-trained. He has also already met the tomcat in the household and plays with him, though he still doesn't fully assess him. What's noteworthy is that the little Mickey immediately understands what's going on, he is very trainable. At the moment, Mickey is simply a wonderful and sweet puppy longing for love and attention. But his puberty won't be far off, and this is also a time when loving and consistent training must be worked on with dogs. We therefore recommend Mickey's new people to work with a positively trained dog training class. Patient and loving training will foster his development and strengthen the bond to his trusted people. Originally, Mickey came from Romania, Baia Mare. He was found with his siblings Jessi, Mayvi, and Ville and was brought to safety. Has the sweet Mickey already wrapped you around his little paw? Mickey is microchipped, vaccinated, and has an EU pet passport in his luggage. We are grateful to Claudia H., who gave Mickey his name. As of: 06.02.

Stand: 06.02.2025

About Mickey

What life with Mickey looks like

Mickey is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mickey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mickey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mickey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mickey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mickey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mickey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mickey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
