All Dogs Mico Print Published: August 2, 2026 Date of Birth: approx. March 2025 Gender: male Breed: mixed breed Height (shoulder height): to be updated Weight: approx. 20 kg Mico is between one and two years old and an absolute whirlwind. This black beauty is looking for people who are highly experienced with dogs—people who are willing to train with him, discover his talents, and bring out the best in him. Mico is an active, intelligent dog with very high expectations of his human companions. Mico lives in a colorful group of dogs and is always seeking fun and excitement. He loves being the center of attention and isn't shy about pushing other dogs aside when it comes to getting noticed. Visually, Mico resembles a hunting dog. We can't yet say for sure whether and how strongly he has a hunting instinct—but his future owners should definitely keep this in mind. Children are welcome in his new home, but given his young and energetic nature, they should already be somewhat older. Mico is a cheerful, active dog who is now looking for people who are eager to embark on adventures together and show him the world with love and patience. Mico weighs approximately 20 kg and has already been neutered. We advise anyone—or any family—considering bringing a dog into their home to first seek out a professional dog training school. That's the only way we can describe him as we've come to know him here at the animal shelter. Many dogs undergo significant changes in their new homes, and it's absolutely essential to have competent guidance right from the start. Would you like to meet Mico? Then please call us at the number provided for more information and/or to schedule a visit to the animal shelter. A phone call in the morning between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., and again between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., would be ideal. Please understand that we may not always be able to answer the phone immediately, as our office isn't staffed continuously, and the team...

About Mico

What life with Mico looks like

Mico is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Alsfeld in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mico, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mico?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Alsfeld handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mico on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mico if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Alsfeld will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mico already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mico isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Alsfeld early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mico and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
