MIKADO

Male · Young · 1 year

Our European-Shorthair tomcat MIKADO was born around May 2025, is male, neutered, and came to us as a found animal. Unfortunately, there is no known background about his past. MIKADO is a friendly, people-oriented tomcat who is outgoing and cuddly. He enjoys the company of his humans and is happy to be part of the family. Additionally, he is talkative, playful, and brings a bit of youthful temperament and curiosity with him. For MIKADO, we are looking for a home in an apartment with a well-secured, cat-safe netted balcony so he can safely breathe fresh air and observe his surroundings. He seems to get along with fellow animals and could therefore be a good fit for a pre-existing cat or a compatible feline companion. We also envision a living arrangement with dogs, after a gentle introduction, might be possible. Given his young and active nature, we can imagine MIKADO fitting well into a family. However, children should be at least 12 years old and familiar with respectful animal handling. MIKADO had a fracture in his thigh, which he is currently still recovering from. Therefore, he must continue to have room rest and is not yet allowed to jump or climb. His future owners should be prepared to support him during his further recovery and adhere to the veterinary instructions. At the moment, MIKADO is a bit round. It cannot be predicted with certainty how his injury will develop in the long term. It is, however, possible that the previous injury could lead to the development of arthritis or further limitations in the future. For MIKADO, we wish for understanding people who will give him the necessary time for complete recovery and then provide him with a loving home with many cuddle and play opportunities. -0Fax:. Some symptoms here are age-related. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

-0Fax: 089/90 73 20E-Mail

About MIKADO

What life with MIKADO looks like

MIKADO is a young adult cat waiting at Tierschutzverein München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting MIKADO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MIKADO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein München handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MIKADO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MIKADO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein München will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MIKADO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MIKADO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein München early rather than rehoming privately; they know MIKADO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
