Miko

Mixed Breed · Male

Miko is a beagle-type dog but smaller than the typical breed. He is very friendly and adorable, constantly wagging his tail while walking. On walks, he moves calmly on a loose leash, sniffing around as befits a dog of this breed. Humans are usually second to him, but when you move too far away from him in the enclosure, he immediately comes running back. Indoors, he is curious and sniffs around. When he's done, he will gladly come for petting and won't turn down treats. He has a neutral attitude towards other dogs. He tends to ignore them, allows himself to be sniffed but could get overwhelmed by an overbearing dog. If the dog barks at him persistently, he will respond in kind. He would fit well with another non-intrusive dog. Miko is a wonderful dog who is waiting for his human. Walks, sniffing, treats and petting are what he craves most.

W pomieszczeniach zaciekawiony chodzi i węszy. Spacery, węszenie, smaczki i głaskanie to jest to czego on pragnie najbardziej.

About Miko

What life with Miko looks like

Miko is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Miko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Miko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Miko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Miko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Miko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Miko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Miko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
