Mila & Modestus

Female · Kitten

Mila and Modestus are two enchanting cat siblings who were caught at a feeding station. Since they were still young, we wanted to give them the chance to build trust with humans and later move to a loving home. With patience and many small steps, this is getting better and better. Modestus was named because he was very reserved at first. Today, this is no longer noticeable: he is developing more and more into a little cuddly cat and enjoys the closeness to his caregivers. Curious, playful and typically cat-like, he is also a bit temperamental when playing, he conquers his surroundings with great charm. He is a little whirlwind with a loving, open nature and will certainly enjoy a suitable cat buddy. Mila is the brave explorer of the two. She looks at new things with interest and wants to get to know her world. People are not always completely comfortable for her, so she needs some time, rest and loving patience. But she is making great progress: when she allows petting, she already purrs loudly and can really enjoy the attention. Mila is an attentive, sensitive little cat who will always open up in a quiet, understanding environment. The two understand each other well, lie and sleep together. At the same time, however, it becomes clear that they develop differently in character: Modestus is the more exuberant, more active little cat, while Mila is more sensitive and goes her own, somewhat quieter way. Therefore, Mila and Modestus do not necessarily have to be placed together. We can very well imagine Modestus in a home with a friendly, social cat buddy with whom he can play, romp and discover the world. Mila, on the other hand, could be wonderful with a sweet, rather quiet cat friend who gives her security and helps her to trust further. Of course, they can also stay together in a really suitable home - the main thing is that each of them gets the companion and the environment that suits their own nature. All our cat children are dewormed, de-fleaed if necessary and vaccinated according to their age. A still pending castration will take place at the right time according to veterinary recommendation. We want to spare our animals long journeys and hope for inquiries within a radius of max. 100 kilometers.

100 Kilometern.

About Mila & Modestus

What life with Mila & Modestus looks like

Mila & Modestus is a large puppy/kitten cat waiting at Artgerecht Tierschutz e.V. in Langen.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mila & Modestus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mila & Modestus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Artgerecht Tierschutz e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mila & Modestus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mila & Modestus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Artgerecht Tierschutz e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mila & Modestus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mila & Modestus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Artgerecht Tierschutz e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mila & Modestus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
