Mila

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 2 months

There’s no respite for the LIDA refuge, our partner animal shelter in Olbia, either. It’s not just the daily stress of caring for the many dogs and cats that need attention—it’s also the constant influx of new strays and animals surrendered to the shelter. There’s simply no time for a break. During our team’s project tour in mid-April 2026, we found ourselves once again right in the thick of it all. On the one hand, we visited dogs who had been waiting for quite some time to be rehomed. On the other hand, we were introduced to numerous new arrivals who would have very few chances of finding loving homes without our help. Among these new arrivals were these two siblings. They were born to a family in Olbia who didn’t want to keep them. During the photo session, Mila and Shiro were surprisingly relaxed—despite having only recently arrived at the refuge and experiencing so much newness, especially lots of noise, stress, and hustle and bustle, which the little pups naturally need time to process. Mila and Shiro showed themselves to be incredibly sweet and thoroughly enjoyed being cuddled and petted. What these two lovely puppies urgently need now for their continued positive development are their own families—families that will give them close, loving companionship and show them just how wonderful life can be. After all, with the large number of dogs and cats the refuge staff has to care for, they simply don’t have enough time to give each animal the attention and affection they truly deserve. That’s why we’d like to bring Mila and Shiro to Germany as soon as possible, so they can find their dream homes here—and stay there forever. Would you like to help one of these lovable puppies find their happy ending? If you’re currently looking for a new furry family member and you’re aware that adoption isn’t just a source of great joy—it also comes with work and great responsibility—we’d love to hear from you. We arrange adoptions nationwide. Your contact person for this...

About Mila

What life with Mila looks like

Mila is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
