adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Mila has found her home! Her story: A family of her own, a lifeline, and a start to a good dog life. The first step has been made; the sweet Mila traveled to her foster home in 84036 Landshut in late September. The young female puppy is approximately 2 years old and with her height of about 31 cm and weight of 6 kg, she belongs to the smaller breeds. Mila is still very shy and reserved. While she now seeks contact with humans by lying on the sofa of the foster family, when someone approaches to pet her, she hides. The foster family gives Mila the time she needs, but we believe that a forever home for the shy female dog would be the best. Mila simply needs more time to trust humans, but she is also curious. It will take time and empathy for her to allow physical contact. For the sweet Mila, we are looking for an experienced, patient family where she can arrive at her own pace and learn to understand the rules of family life. With a loving and consistent companionship, Mila will gain self-confidence and learn to love her new world with all its colorful adventures. She gets along well with other dogs and can be safely rehomed as a confident only dog, where she can learn and observe, and receive additional support. Mila will enter her new life neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas, and will bring her own EU pet passport. She can be met in her foster family upon request and will only be rehomed after a positive match. Are you in love with this sweet treasure and ready to guide Mila on the way to a happy and joyful dog? Many thanks to Julia K.! You gave Mila her beautiful name! Date: 29.10.

Vielen Dank Julia K.! Du hast Mila ihren schönen Namen geschenkt! About Mila

What life with Mila looks like

Mila is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
