Adopt Mila (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 12 years

Regarding the ages mentioned here, they are often estimated values as we do not always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. Mila Born 15.04.2014, female, neutered, mixed breed, medium size (approx. 35 cm, 6 kg), foster home. Mila has made it, she has found her "forever home"! Mila, who at first was such a shy little mouse, is now a lively and lively female dog, making her "ex-foster home" "forever people" very happy. Foster home report (January 2019): Mila is a small, approximately 6 kg, charming mixed-breed female dog who has not experienced much beauty in her previous dog life. Consequently, she is rather shy and can be scared and anxious about many things and sounds in everyday life or traffic. However, she is also very curious and inquisitive and visibly blossoms in her foster family, and she would rather be with the "pack." She loves going for walks more than anything else, and the joy when you put her collar on is enormous. Otherwise, Mila is content when she can sleep peacefully on the couch and occasionally get some cuddles. She rides in the car and elevator and remains problem-free when left alone at home for several hours – the joy when you return is truly indescribable and sweet. She quickly understands what she is allowed or not allowed to do. Mila now approaches strangers happily and feels comfortable in larger groups of people and/or unfamiliar environments. Occasionally, the Terrier genes come through, and she clearly shows when she does not want something, but with patience and time, one can certainly teach the little lady much more. She gets along well with other dogs and probably also with cats. She is friendly but reserved with children. She wishes for a quieter home with routine and people who can give her peace and trust and, above all, long walks with her. Here are a few pictures. To enlarge, please click on an image.

About Mila (vermittelt)

What life with Mila (vermittelt) looks like

Mila (vermittelt) is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mila (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mila (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mila (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mila (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mila (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mila (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mila (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
