Milka (i Mila)

Mixed Breed · Female

Milka came to the foundation with her sister Mila from a street in Krakow; both are suffering from feline colds that have left a lasting mark on their eyes. They’re currently staying in a temporary home, where they’re both waiting for adoption. Milka is cheerful, not afraid of new people, and eagerly greets them. She’s the type of cat who loves to snack—she’ll help herself straight from the pot, pawing at the butter dish to grab a bit of butter. She’ll eat anything, no matter how much. Milka loves playing with her sister, with whom she’s very close. When they’re apart, she paces around, meowing and calling out for her. She doesn’t like being picked up. In the morning, she can turn herself into an alarm clock, begging to be petted. She loves sleeping in the bed. In the evening, she adores cuddling up in the bedding. She’ll purr and get petted for a long time and intensely—she won’t give up easily. If she feels it’s not enough, she’ll become quite persistent. She knows how to scratch loudly and firmly at the door to get let into the bed—she’ll keep doing it until she’s finally let in, so potential adopters should be prepared for that. She’s a young, energetic cat: she runs, explores, hunts, always together with her sister. She can’t stand being alone. She likes nibbling on flowers and knocking things off furniture. Milka has eye and ear problems and requires daily care, though unfortunately she doesn’t enjoy it. She also doesn’t like having her claws trimmed. Over the coming weeks, the cats will undergo ophthalmological procedures aimed at improving their vision and overall comfort. Adoption comes as a pair with Mila. We’re looking for a non-smoking, loving, safe home for Milka, one with a secure balcony (if available) and/or windows, where she’ll receive the best possible care. Adoption comes as a pair with her sister Mila. ATTENTION! About Milka (i Mila)

What life with Milka (i Mila) looks like

Milka (i Mila) is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja Stawiamy na Łapy in Poland.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milka (i Mila), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milka (i Mila)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Stawiamy na Łapy handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milka (i Mila) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milka (i Mila) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Stawiamy na Łapy will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milka (i Mila) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milka (i Mila) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Stawiamy na Łapy early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milka (i Mila) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
