Milka

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 3 months

Milka is a three-month-old Posavac and the only sister of Myla and Milko. She, along with her mother and siblings, was rescued from very poor conditions where she spent the first weeks of her life without basic care, surrounded by dirt and fleas. Since arriving at the shelter, she has been slowly getting to know the world that every puppy should know. Of all the puppies, she is the most gentle and timid. In new situations and with unfamiliar people, it takes a little longer for her to relax, but once she gains trust, she shows her beautiful, gentle nature. Milka is a curious and playful puppy who loves the company of other dogs, with whom she feels safer. Every day, she becomes bolder and learns that people can be good and caring. She is looking for a calm and patient home that will respect her pace and help her build self-confidence. With lots of love, kindness, and understanding, Milka will grow into a devoted, affectionate, and beautiful family dog who will be grateful to her family for the rest of her life.

About Milka

What life with Milka looks like

Milka is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Azil Dubrovnik in Croatia.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇭🇷Adopting from Croatia

Croatian shelters include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID in the adoption process. Several work with Italian and German rescue networks for placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Azil Dubrovnik handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Azil Dubrovnik will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Azil Dubrovnik early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
