Milka

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt Milka now! Her story: Black is beautiful: Milka is looking for her new family and is already waiting for you in Germany! The sweet female cat Milka is around 8 months old and longs for a beautiful home with a loving family. She was given up together with her four siblings Emi, Merlino, Missy, and Nieke by an old blind man living on the land near Cluj. We have helped him in the past when he took in strays. He called one of our animal rescuers to inform her that he had the five kittens with him. Shortly after, we took them in at our foster home in Cluj, as the living conditions with him were rather difficult. Meanwhile, she and her remaining sister Missy have moved into one of our great foster homes in Munich. As for her name, we can only guess whether she was named after chocolate or the Hebrew first name that means "Queen." In our opinion, both apply: sweet and majestic. Milka is, for her age typical, very friendly, playful, and requires a lot of attention. As she is still so young, we do not want to place her in single housing. If her new home already has another cat waiting for her, she would love to bring her sister Missy along. Since Milka is used to apartment living, she does not necessarily have to become an outdoor cat. However, if the new environment offers a quiet location away from busy streets, she can be accustomed to being let out after an appropriate adjustment period. Otherwise, a cat-safe netted balcony where she can survey her new kingdom is also a great alternative. The young female cat can move into her new home right away and is already spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. Additionally, she has tested negative for FIV and FeLV and comes with an EU pet passport.

About Milka

What life with Milka looks like

Milka is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
