Milli

British Shorthair · Female · Adult · 10 years

Housing requirement: Apartment with a secure balcony. Milli came to our animal shelter as a safeguarded animal. Now, this sweet cat is looking for a new, caring forever home. Milli is a friendly lady cat. However, she approaches new people with some skepticism and tends to be initially anxious in unfamiliar situations. Given enough time and space to build trust, though, she becomes a loving and cuddly companion for her trusted humans. She happily accepts petting and grooming from her favorite people. Yet, her paws should be left alone—she prefers to take care of them herself. The little furry nose is already 10 years old and therefore deeply appreciates the benefits of a cozy and relaxed life. For her new home, we’d like a quiet environment where she can feel comfortable and unwind. A balcony where she can soak up the sun and let her whiskers flutter gently in the breeze would make her new life absolutely perfect! Milli isn’t very fond of dogs or children, but she gets along great with other cats. She’d be thrilled to move in with another cat—or to share a new home with an existing feline companion. Would you like to give this velvet paw a caring home? Then please send us your completed self-disclosure form to (please enable JavaScript for the address). August 6, 2026 (jh)

About Milli

What life with Milli looks like

Milli is a adult british shorthair cat waiting at Hamburger Tierschutzverein in Hamburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hamburger Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hamburger Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hamburger Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
