Millie

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Millie traveled to a foster home in the Canton of Zurich on May 3, 2025. There, she’ll first have time to settle in and find some peace and quiet. We’ll keep you updated on her progress and provide further details about her personality traits as they develop. Update from May 11, 2025: From day one, Millie has settled into her foster home’s house without any problems, which suggests that she probably already had a home at some point. Inside the house, she’s friendly, attentive, and adaptable. Outside, she’s becoming more confident every day and now walks nicely on a leash. She bravely handled her visit to the dog groomer—with the help of a generous portion of liver sausage paste. With significantly less undercoat, she now feels noticeably more comfortable in warmer temperatures. Millie is a smart and cheerful dog with a loving mischievous streak—she often brings a smile to people’s faces with little pranks, like playfully snatching a poop bag. Millie travels smoothly by car and gets along well with other dogs. We’re looking for an empathetic home for Millie—one that can offer her security, affection, and plenty of exercise. Anyone who gets to know her will quickly realize just how special this little dog is. About Millie’s past: Millie is 2 years old and stands 40 cm tall. The poor girl was abandoned together with her six puppies on a very dangerous road in Romania. There, they were captured by dogcatchers and taken to a killing station. But our beloved partner animal shelter bought Millie and her puppies and took them in. At first, Millie was very anxious—no one could touch her. Yet she’s slowly starting to open up. She simply needs time. That’s why we’re looking for a calm home with patient people for her. Children should already be older. Millie is very friendly toward everyone—whether dog or human. Of course, she still has a lot to learn. Since she’s hardly experienced anything from this big, wide world yet, she’ll need some time at first to settle into her new home and get to know her people and surroundings. Who’d like to give this sweet dog a chance? We’re certain that Millie is a wonderful dog and will surely thrive in a safe environment.

About Millie

What life with Millie looks like

Millie is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Glückshunde Schweiz in Glueckshunde.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Millie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Millie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glückshunde Schweiz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Millie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Millie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glückshunde Schweiz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Millie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Millie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glückshunde Schweiz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Millie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
