Milly

Cocker Spaniel · Female · Adult · 4 years

18-08-26 Milly is a shy and worried little girl who has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. She is feeling quite overwhelmed by all the changes in her life and is in need of plenty of TLC, patience and understanding while she learns that she is safe. Although she is initially nervous, once she gets to know you she loves to have a gentle fuss. Milly will need a calm and quiet home with adopters who have experience with ex-breeding dogs and who understand that she will need time to settle in at her own pace. She will also need another kind and confident resident dog in her new home to take her under their wing and help her learn about all the good things that life in a home can offer. We would consider homing her with older, dog-savvy teenagers, aged 16+ who are sensible and will allow her time to settle in. Milly has never lived in a home before, so her new family will need to be kind and understanding as she learns all about home life, including new skills like house training and walking on a lead. These things will be completely new to her, so she will need lots of gentle encouragement and reassurance. Milly has arrived with sore skin and old concrete sores, as well as an old break in her tail. She also arrived with a micro eye on the left side, which was quite sore and had to be removed by our vets to help her feel more comfortable. She also had an entropion repaired in her right eye. Milly is recovering well and we hope she will be feeling better very soon. Milly is a gentle little soul who has had a difficult start in life, but we hope that with the right home, a kind canine friend and lots of love and patience, she will slowly begin to relax and discover just how wonderful being someone's beloved companion can be. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Milly

What life with Milly looks like

Milly is a adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
