Milly Mae

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

I am called Milly Mae and I'm about 3 years old. I am a lovely girl who loves being around the foster mother, but I'm still very scared of strangers. I have learned that it's nice to be petted on my back and I sleep at the foot of the foster mother's bed every night, but I haven't become a cuddly monster or a tame cat yet. I wish for a quiet and patient home that understands that it takes a lot of time, patience and trust before I feel safe. I really like being with other cats, and here with the foster mother I have several cat friends. I think it's fun to run around and play a bit, and I do very well on the windowsill. The mother has set up a small birdhouse with birdseed by the window, and it's very interesting to watch the birds that come and eat. I have also learned when it's time for food. I sit quietly and wait near the food bowl. When the foster mother opens the food cabinet, I eagerly run around her 😃 The foster mother talks a lot to me with a baby voice, which I find very cozy. If something has scared me, I calm down when she talks. I am doing fine here, but I need someone who can take care of me forever and let me open up at my own pace. ❤️

About Milly Mae

What life with Milly Mae looks like

Milly Mae is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Hjerte for Hjemløse Katter in Trollåsen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milly Mae, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milly Mae?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hjerte for Hjemløse Katter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milly Mae on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milly Mae if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hjerte for Hjemløse Katter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milly Mae already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milly Mae isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hjerte for Hjemløse Katter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milly Mae and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NB). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
