Milo - Friendly Dream Rüden seeks patient hearted people for a common restart The handsome male dog MILO has made it in life. In April the clever fellow was rescued from the Daeni killing station and is now waiting patiently at the animal shelter for his big chance. At an estimated 2 years old, MILO is at the very best age - he has outgrown puppyhood but brings a lot of potential and willingness to learn for a long happy dog life. With a shoulder height of about 58 cm, MILO belongs to the larger, stately males. He is an absolutely noble appearance with his thick fur in dark natural tones, a beautiful, symmetrical white blaze on his face and a light chest. His loyal brown eyes look a bit hesitant but at the same time radiate great gentleness. Characteristically, MILO shows himself from his best side: he is a thoroughly friendly and human-oriented partner. However, he has brought along a small package from his past, because before the leash he currently still shows great fear. Here people are asked to meet him with a lot of patience, love and empathy, give him the necessary security and show him step by step that the leash is the key to great adventures together. Life in a house and the entire dog ABC are completely new to MILO. For him we wish a loving, rather quiet home, preferably with an enclosed garden where he can arrive without pressure and gain confidence. Who gives this brave survival artist the ticket to a sheltered life? friendly, compatible, fear of leash ✓ A home with a garden ✓ Experienced dog people ✓ Would like another dog ✓ Wants to live in the countryside - No small children in the household - No urban environment Milo was rescued from the killing station in Daeni in April 2026. We do not know anything about his background. Help Milo find a home - share this with your friends ❤️

About Milo

What life with Milo looks like

Milo is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
