Milo

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Milo is looking for his forever home. Our Milo is an approximately 13-month-old, unneutered livestock guardian dog mix who came to our shelter as a stray. Unfortunately, we don’t know much about his past—but that means we get to know him better every single day now. Milo is a friendly, open-minded, and joyful young dog who thoroughly enjoys being close to his people. He loves long walks, curiously explores his surroundings, and is always eager to join in on any activity. However, there’s still plenty of work to be done on his leash manners—typical behavior for a young dog, after all. He’s playful, eager to learn, and wants both physical and mental stimulation. Milo needs people who enjoy working with him and can provide the security and leadership that a livestock guardian dog mix requires. We’d like Milo to find a loving, dog-experienced home—ideally with people who already have experience with livestock guardian dogs or are familiar with their unique characteristics. He gets along well with female dogs, but with male dogs, it depends on mutual compatibility. Due to his sometimes rather energetic and exuberant nature, children in his new home should already be teenagers. Milo has a big heart and is waiting for people who, with patience, understanding, and consistency, will show him just how wonderful life together can be. Whoever gives him this chance will gain a loyal companion by their side.

About Milo

What life with Milo looks like

Milo is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Landshut in Landshut.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Landshut handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Landshut will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Landshut early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
