adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Milo can travel directly to his final home! His story. Zalau, Romania. Our local helper was actually out in the field with a live trap, trying to catch a female dog to have her spayed. And who ended up in the trap? Our Milo. We don't know where he came from. But his future is sealed: Milo is looking for a home! Milo has lived in our private shelter since the beginning of last year and is currently around 2 years old. At 53 cm and about 19 kg, he has an average body size and a slender build. Milo is likely a hunting dog mix and is an active and energetic young dog. He is very curious, playful, and loves attention. Milo enjoys being around people and greatly appreciates their affection. He loves treats and is very eager to learn. Unfortunately, he suffers greatly from the confinement in the run and the pent-up energy he can't regularly release. When Milo can leave his run and spend a limited time in the yard, he is happy. He then has a high energy drive. We think, however, that this can be better regulated if he is regularly exercised from head to toe in his own home. He is not afraid of being on a leash or in harness, he likes to go for walks, and gets along well with his fellow animals. Due to his appearance, we cannot rule out a hunting dog mix for Milo. For Milo, we are looking for a loving home that is eager to teach him everything anew. He still doesn't know how to lead an animal-appropriate life, and he looks forward to studying the Dog ABC with his family. With people by his side who want to challenge him and at the same time work with him with calm and consistent loving upbringing, Milo would surely become a balanced and active companion for life. A visit to dog training classes would surely make Milo very happy, as would regular contact with other dogs. Milo wants to be kept busy and we see him with active people who take him on interesting excursions in nature or other activities. And perhaps also go to dog sports or other creative activities with him. Our Milo is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated. He brings his EU pet passport with him and would be very grateful for a foster home. Will you give Milo a happy dog life? Many thanks Natalie P.! You have given Milo his identity! Date: 13.03.

Vielen Dank Natalie P.! Du hast Milo seine Identität geschenkt! Stand: 13.03.2024

About Milo

What life with Milo looks like

Milo is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
