Milo R

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Age: Born around 2013 Gender: male neutered: yes Character: very friendly Size: approx. 55 cm In shelter since: April 2022 Special: due to his high age, we urgently need a home (emergency placement) Dear people who love animals, do you have a spot free for a handsome dog? I am a mature dog and do not want to grow old here in the shelter. What I wish for is that loving people like you take me in, where a comfortable dog bed and lots of cuddles are waiting for me. Here in the shelter, I live alone in a hut in the courtyard, on a chain. When the puppies in the courtyard get too riled up, I prefer to find a quiet corner, because that is too tiring and simply too much for me. The chain should not deter you, though, because with the people here, I am really friendly. I simply do better in my own hut than in a run where it can get a bit crowded. And even though I am no longer a young pup, I still want to experience many beautiful things. With a bit of understanding for a dog from the animal shelter who has already experienced a lot and may have made his own decisions, we can grow into a great team through shared experiences and can still do many wonderful things together. When can I climb into the transporter? If you are interested in Milo, please fill out our interest form () or send us an email or a message on Facebook. Milo is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months of age, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and leishmaniasis. Britta R. has taken over the sponsorship for Milo and thus ensures a full plate. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

About Milo R

What life with Milo R looks like

Milo R is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milo R, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milo R?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milo R on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milo R if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milo R already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milo R isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milo R and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
