Milo

Rottweiler · Male · Adult · 5 years

Milo can be described as a ‘soppy dog’. He loves a fuss and spending time with his people. He walks beautifully on his lead, and he enjoys going for long walks. His favourite places to hike include woodlands, and places where he can paddle his paws in the shallows. Milo would love access to secure paddocks where he can run freely with the wind in his hair! He thrives in rural areas that are not busy with other dogs; Milo had a negative experience with other dogs and although he used to have doggy pals, he would now rather keep his distance. He is motivated by squeaky toys and can easily disengage and be more focused on his squeaky ball. He is learning to wear a muzzle for peace of mind so he can carry on his training safely. Our team of experts can show you how well Milo is doing and guide you to continue his success. He loves to have a game of fetch and play tuggy games. His all-time favourite treat is cheese! He knows a sit, wait, and paw, and why not teach him new tricks to keep that clever brain of his sharp! Say hello to the affectionate and loving Milo the five-year-old Rottweiler cross Malinois. He could share his home with upper secondary school aged children. He is looking to be the only dog in the home and a home without cats or small furries. Milo has no history around livestock. Milo is super friendly around new people and great with visitors to the home. He could cope with a reasonably busy home environment that is set-back from footpaths as Milo doesn’t appreciate dogs passing by his house. He would like access to peaceful outdoor spaces and walks. He is housetrained and fine traveling in the car. Milo is a chilled-out lad in the house and does not mind being left alone at home for a few hours at a time. He has a fab coat which will need brushing regular and he is happy with you doing so.

About Milo

What life with Milo looks like

Milo is a small adult rottweiler dog waiting at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe in Ilfracombe.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Ilfracombe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Ilfracombe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Ilfracombe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
