Milo

Male · Young · 3 years

About MiloMilo is a sweet boy who came to the centre as sadly his previous owner could no longer keep him. He is a lovely friendly boy who in true typical spaniel style likes to live life to the max. He loves being out and about and making the most of every single moment, he can be a little strong on the lead to begin with but soon calms down and walks nicely once he is over his initial excitement. Milo is an intelligent dog and knows lots of commands but unfortunately his recall is something that needs to be worked on. He is used to having his freedom on a longline or an enclosed dog park which he thoroughly enjoys. Milo is great in the house, he is fully housetrained and can be left for short periods with no bother. He loves to sit on the sofa with you and get cuddles, he loves to around his people and playing toy games with you. He likes going on adventures and travelling about in the car, Milo is looking for a home where he can share adventures and create wonderful memories. He is a very loyal dog and will make someone the best friend they could ever wish for. Milo is suitable to live with children aged 8 years and over and is sociable with dogs out on a walk.

About Milo

What life with Milo looks like

Milo is a young adult dog waiting at RSPCA York Animal Home in York.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA York Animal Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA York Animal Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA York Animal Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
