Adopt Mima

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Mima is a special female dog looking for patient and compassionate people. She has spent her previous life in an animal shelter and has had limited opportunities to gather experiences about the world beyond it. Consequently, she initially shows herself to be shy and reserved, preferring to observe her surroundings from a safe distance. At the same time, she is also curious and wants to understand what is happening around her. Currently, Mima lives in a foster home and is already making early progress. It is particularly beautiful to see that she shows great harmony in living with other dogs. She adapts to them and gains increasing security in everyday life. If Mima is pressured or feels overwhelmed, it may happen that she growls or snaps. This behavior is never meant to be "mean," but rather an expression of her insecurity. With calmness, patience, and some tasty treats, she can be convinced step by step to build trust. Those who give her the time she needs will witness how she slowly warms up and cautiously makes contact. For Mima, we are looking for people with experience in dealing with anxious or insecure dogs who respect her signals and do not overwhelm her. An experienced single dog would be a great help, but is not a must. What is most important are a quiet environment, clear structures, and a lot of understanding. Those who are willing to go this path with Mima will be rewarded with a sensitive female dog that gradually opens her heart and builds a close bond with her people over time. This animal has a history of biting.

About Mima

What life with Mima looks like

Mima is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. in Stuttgart.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mima, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mima?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mima on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mima if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mima already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mima isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mima and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
