Mimi

European Shorthair · Female · Young · 3 years

Hello there, I am Mimi! I had to be given up by my previous owners because they no longer had enough time for me. Now I am on the lookout for a wonderful forever home. As you might see in the photo, I am blind in one eye. But that doesn't bother me at all; I am just a bit skittish when someone approaches me from the side. I love cuddles, but only when I feel like it. I like playing with balls and find intelligence toys very exciting. I am totally active and love exploring new things, so it would be great if I could go out in my new home. Since I am only one-eyed, my outdoor area should be secure or in a very quiet location. With older, cat-savvy children, I would definitely not have a problem. I do not need other cats around me and do my best to keep them at a distance. If you are looking for an active and lively cat, feel free to get in touch at this breed animal shelter.

Eure Mimi

About Mimi

What life with Mimi looks like

Mimi is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. in Remagen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mimi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mimi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mimi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mimi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Mimi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mimi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mimi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
