Mimi

Female · Puppy · 4 months

Mimi, a female puppy, 3.5 months old, will grow to be about 30 cm tall and weigh 6-7 kg, from abroad. Mimi was given up by her owner to a man who did not want to keep her. He then gave her to an animal shelter who brought her to our contact person. There she can now grow up with the other puppies in the shelter. Mimi is a small playful dog. When our contact person picks up the other puppy she is with, Mimi starts to whine. This stops when she is also picked up. She enjoys attention and likes to be hugged. She gets along well with other dogs and cats. We are looking for a home for Mimi where she can receive enough attention and further training. Because she is so small, we would prefer not to place her with young children who may see her as a toy dog. Another dog in the house would be great for Mimi. She loves to play with a companion.

NL·Show original

About Mimi

What life with Mimi looks like

Mimi is a small puppy/kitten dog waiting at Stichting AAI in Amsterdam.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mimi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mimi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting AAI handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mimi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mimi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting AAI will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mimi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mimi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting AAI early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mimi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
