All Cats Mimi Print Published: July 29, 2026 Breed: EKH Age: 2025 Gender: Female Spayed: No Color: Red-and-white Housing: Outdoor access Mimi was brought to us as a stray cat from Neukirchen. The shy, young lady cat apparently had an accident at some point, which caused her to limp on her hind leg. Nothing could be diagnosed at the clinic, and the limp has now completely disappeared. Currently, a fistula at the base of her tail is being treated, and the treatment is going very well. Mimi is skeptical around humans but becomes trusting only with people she likes. She loves her fellow cats and cuddles them endlessly. It would be great if her new home had another cat who is very social and tolerant of this behavior. She enjoys playing and having fun—two perfect qualities that make it easy to build trust. The young lady cat also really appreciates treats and good food. Mimi wants to explore the world, and once trust has been established and she’s settled in, she’d like to have outdoor access again. Her new home should not be too hectic and should be located away from heavily trafficked roads. Would you like to get to know Mimi? For more information and/or to schedule a visit (or to contact the foster home), please call the animal shelter at the number provided. A phone call in the morning between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., and again between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., would be ideal. Please understand that if no one answers right away, our office isn’t always staffed, and our employees are usually busy caring for the animals. So please don’t give up and try calling again later. Also, please send us the completed self-disclosure form in advance by email so that we can arrange a visit with you. Thank you very much for your patience and understanding. For kittens: We place great importance on placing kittens in the company of or with cats of similar age.

About Mimi

What life with Mimi looks like

Mimi is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Alsfeld in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mimi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mimi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Alsfeld handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mimi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mimi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Alsfeld will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mimi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mimi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Alsfeld early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mimi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
