Mina

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

The adorable Mina is incredibly loving and sweet, and just can't get enough cuddles. However, she is initially unsure around strangers—especially if they pressure or invade her personal space. Mina needs some time to check out a neutral area and see if these people are well-intentioned. Potential adopters should therefore bring a bit of patience to meet the "real Mina." Once people pass this "little test," Mina becomes an attached cuddle monster that hugs and licks her new friends enthusiastically and even likes to play as a lap dog. :D The young, energetic bundle of energy loves walks more than anything. For couch potatoes, Mina might not be the best fit. It's likely that a good portion of Border Collie is in Mina, as she is incredibly intelligent, always ready to serve, and sometimes takes a bit longer to calm down. So, it's important to find the right balance of physical and mental stimulation and rest. Mina gets along well with her fellow animals, so she could be a great addition to a home with an existing dog that helps her overcome her initial insecurities. However, this dog should not be too small and more "robust," as Mina is still very playful and can be a bit stormy at times. Whether she could share a home with cats would need to be tested if interested. For Mina, we are looking for a home in a more rural area with not too many strangers coming and going. Children should be older and very steady. Minas people should have plenty of time for the attached whirlwind. Dog experience would be helpful. Mina is a small diamond who will shine in the right environment. Mina is looking forward to visitors in her foster home in Marburg-Cappel. Mina is neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, tested negative for Mediterranean diseases, and has an EU Pass.

DE·Show original

About Mina

What life with Mina looks like

Mina is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundehilfe Portugal in Speyer.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundehilfe Portugal handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundehilfe Portugal will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundehilfe Portugal early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
