adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! For Mindy everything seemed perfect. After being half-frozen and starved, she was rescued by our dedicated helpers in Romania and quickly received her long-awaited ticket to happiness. But life doesn't always write beautiful stories. Mindy had to leave her home after a few months. Why? Our strays often have to endure harshness and brutality. Their reactions to this, even long after the fact, can be very different. Often, it takes years for them to feel completely safe. Mindy couldn't build a good relationship with any family member at home. Now, we are doing everything we can to give her the well-deserved second chance. Even though Mindy must leave her home, she has learned a lot and presented herself as a fine cuddly cat. Safety and consistency are absolutely necessary for her upbringing. Her owner should ideally have some dog experience and establish clear rules from the start. As it befits a teenager, she constantly tests boundaries, but she accepts them when they are clearly and consistently enforced. She still occasionally gets overwhelmed by walks, as too many impressions, like smells or fast-moving cars, are still difficult for her to process. Training must continue diligently to give Mindy more security. However, being alone works for a certain period, and sounds in the apartment do not bother her. The basic commands "Sit" and "Stay" are mastered perfectly by the black beauty with the white beard. Although Mindy is a real sleepyhead, she of course needs her run and also mental stimulation. This can happen happily in the green, away from home, as she joyfully rides in the car to the excursion destination. Are you ready for Mindy? Her name is Program, because it means "Home." She more than deserves a second chance. Her "still family" calls her an "angel," and she needs time and patience to fully unfold. She already masters the purring perfectly! Mindy is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Unfortunately, because of her shortened route, she cannot enter Switzerland. Thank you, dear Katrin, for giving Mindy her name and thus a valuable identity. As of 29.05.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 29.05.2026

About Mindy

What life with Mindy looks like

Mindy is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mindy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mindy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mindy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mindy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mindy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mindy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mindy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
