adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Mingo has found a new home! His story: SOS from Baden-Württemberg! Mingo is urgently seeking a new home – unmerited! The charming German Shepherd-Mix must leave his familiar surroundings due to a private emergency situation – a heartbreaking situation for all involved. Mingo, who has lived in Germany for just over a year, brings everything that makes a loyal companion. In an unfamiliar environment, he is still a bit unsure – especially with strangers, including men. He walks well on a leash and even in free roam, although the latter should be tried only after an adjustment phase in his new home. Mingo loves car rides just as much as sporting activities on a bike, where he shows great enthusiasm. He can be left alone in his current environment for up to five hours without a problem. And: Mingo can even handle chickens – so a life on the farm would be ideal for him. Unfortunately, cats are not among his friends, and he does not want to share his territory with them. His name means, among other things, "dedicated to God" – but this time, we need more than divine providence: We are urgently seeking a life partner or a family who will give Mingo a real chance. Long walks through the woods and fields, crazy ball games or other throwing games – this is heaven for Mingo! He also gets along well with children, being friendly, playful, and full of life. Mingo is still young and has his whole dog life ahead of him. He loves to be physically and mentally active – an active lifestyle makes him happy and balanced. Mingo is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He brings his EU pet passport with him, and he is not neutered. A foster home would also make Mingo very happy – so he doesn't suddenly become homeless. Will you give Mingo a new chance? He will thank you – as a loyal dream companion in good times and bad. A big thank you goes to Birgit Z. – you gave Mingo his divine and extraordinary name, and with it, identity and the chance at a happy life. As of: 17.06.

Stand: 17.06.2025

About Mingo

What life with Mingo looks like

Mingo is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mingo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mingo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mingo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mingo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mingo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mingo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mingo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
