Adopt Minion

American Staffordshire Terrier · Male · Adult · 8 years

Minion is a neutered male dog classified by the veterinary office as an American Staffordshire Terrier mix. Unfortunately, his past has been far from ideal: for the last few years, he lived isolated on a garden plot – without real interaction, without a family connection, and without the chance to explore the world. Now, Minion is with us and finally receiving the attention and care he has long missed. At the beginning, an important medical procedure was necessary: his soft palate had to be shortened because he suffered from significant breathing problems even at cooler temperatures. He has recovered well from the surgery and is currently in the healing phase. Simultaneously, we are evaluating his behavior step by step. Currently, he shows clear issues with wearing a muzzle and quickly becomes agitated – a clear focus point for the upcoming training. We will structure this training with him to help him gain long-term security. What is particularly encouraging is that so far, Minion has presented himself as open, friendly, and affectionate towards people. He seeks contact and shows that he is a dog ready to build trust and connect. Of course, we are still at the beginning with him and will get a clearer picture of his needs and behavior in the coming days and weeks. Nevertheless, we want to give him a voice now and introduce him. Minion now has the chance for a new life – one that does him justice. Away from loneliness and isolation, towards structure, security, and genuine attachment. If you are interested in Minion or would like to learn more about him, please feel free to contact us. We welcome serious inquiries and people who are ready to embark on the journey toward a better future with him. To do this, please fill out the interest form via the "Hund anfragen" link.

About Minion

What life with Minion looks like

Minion is a adult american staffordshire terrier dog waiting at Tierheim Ludwigshafen in Ludwigshafen/Rheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Minion, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Minion?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Ludwigshafen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Minion on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Minion if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Ludwigshafen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Minion already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Minion isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Ludwigshafen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Minion and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
