Adopt Mira

Female · Puppy · 9 months

Lovely Mira is such a sweet girl. She’s a beautiful, all-black dog with a unique, scruffy, wiry coat. She is looking for a home where she can settle down and enjoy all the love a family has to offer. Mira has an incredibly loving nature, making her a perfect companion. Mira was dropped off at a vet clinic and left, we don't know anything about her past so she may have been born on the streets or may have come from a home. She has been settling in well in temporary foster care, gaining confidence and learning from the older dogs around her. She gets on very well with other dogs and has a particular soft spot for puppies, she absolutely melts around them and genuinely enjoys their company. She would be a great match for a home with an existing dog. She is an affectionate girl who loves being close to her people. She will follow her carer from room to room and eagerly lean in for cuddles and chin scratches. She thrives on human company and is a true little shadow in the home. Her gentle nature makes her a good fit for a home with sensible children over 12. However, Mira can be frightened by loud noises and may be a little shy to begin with, so slow introductions are key. As Mira is still young, she will need an owner who is committed to continuing her training and socialisation as she grows. She currently weighs around 12kg and, while she may grow a little more, We doubt she will grow to be very large, she has a slim build with graceful long legs. Mira did manage to sneak out of her foster carer’s home at one point, so her forever home will need a secure garden. We would also advise keeping her on a long lead in the garden for the first few weeks until she is fully settled. Mira is unsure of cats, she doesn’t quite know what to make of them and, if anything, seems a little frightened of them. For this reason, we would recommend a home without cats, just to be safe. Fully vaccinated for Rabies and Infections Diseases 4D tested for Brucellosis and tick borne diseases

About Mira

What life with Mira looks like

Mira is a large puppy/kitten dog waiting at Doggy Dens UK Rescue in United Kingdom.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Doggy Dens UK Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Doggy Dens UK Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Doggy Dens UK Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
