Adopt Miranda

Labrador Retriever · Female

Description Our animal welfare workers report: The dear Miranda has had quite a bit in her life… The sweet female dog was found in a terrible state on the street. She could not rise from the ground, and her son was by her side. Fortunately, she was caught; however, her son was very shy and ran away. He was never seen in this area again. The dear and always friendly Miranda was brought to an animal clinic. She was undernourished, suffering from anemia, tested positive for leishmaniasis, and had to be treated initially. This is nearly three years ago, and she is doing well today! She is a master at spreading her charm and getting the occasional treat, which her hips and little rolls reveal. The leishmaniasis test came back negative last, but annual blood tests should still be conducted to monitor her health status, which should also continue in her new home. She currently requires no medication at all!Miranda leads a completely normal life and gets along excellently with just about everyone – including dogs, cats, and chickens. She runs well on a leash and has no problems with car rides, although she would rather spend the whole day lying in the sun and having treats given to her. She is an absolute treasure and deserves a family that will give her a second chance and a beautiful life. Like most animals from abroad, Miranda will also need to adjust to life in the new home, as she knows neither large crowds of people nor the noise of city traffic from Spain. But we are optimistic that she will settle in well. We wish for her a home in a rural environment where she can enjoy nature with her people. We are looking for people who are willing to take this wonderful dog with patience, time, and in an affectionate way to life and the new home. Information on leishmaniasis Please note:

About Miranda

What life with Miranda looks like

Miranda is a large adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Miranda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Miranda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Miranda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Miranda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Miranda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Miranda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Miranda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
