Mirko

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

📍 Current location: Vienna Mirko is a mixed breed dog, probably born in August 2025, from our Hungarian partner animal shelter, now living in Vienna. He is adaptable, affectionate, attached, attentive and friendly. At the same time, he is initially rather reserved, but curious - he likes to observe first before rushing into a new situation. Once he has gained trust, he shows his very special charm. And the young dog definitely knows how to use it. Mirko is house-trained and has already learned a lot in Vienna, for example, he behaves exemplary and uncomplicated in the office. Whether on the go or in an unfamiliar environment - he likes to be there, open to new things and adapts well. Mirko is a young dog who still wants to learn a lot and brings energy, curiosity and sometimes his own head with his age. At the same time, he is an incredibly loving and charming companion who enjoys the closeness to his people. He gets along well with his fellow dogs. He has already met children from 5 years of age and has shown no problems here. Mirko wants loving and active people, where he can arrive in peace and who want to discover the world with him.

About Mirko

What life with Mirko looks like

Mirko is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Austria in Wien.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mirko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mirko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Austria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mirko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mirko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Austria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mirko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mirko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Austria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mirko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
