Adopt Mirra

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Mirra, a female dog born in October 2022. Mirra is an incredibly energetic and comforting sunbeam. Over the past year, which she has lived at our shelter, we've come to know her well. From the start, she was positively disposed towards everyone around her, had a great appetite, and was very curious about everything. She had a significant underweight issue at the time, but that's behind her now, and she looks beautiful, weighing a solid 29 kilograms. She walks nicely on a leash and enjoys going for walks with her caretakers. Sometimes she stops when something catches her interest, and she might also tug harder if she sees another dog. From our observations, Mirra gets along well with other dogs, and she even developed a special bond with our Caucasian Shepherd, Maximus. Together, they go wild on the play area and release their energy in a positive way. This shows how sociable and conflict-free she is. However, it's important to note that Mirra was known to jump over a nearly two-meter-high fence. It's possible that she managed to escape in this way, and this must be kept in mind when considering adoption to prevent the same thing from happening again. Interestingly, she didn't try to escape while on the play area as long as she had company. Once she was alone, she managed to clear the fence quite quickly. Still, Mirra doesn't like being alone. She even began gnawing at the boards in her kennel as if to show she doesn't find herself content without company. As you can see, the animal shelter is not the ideal place for her, and we would very much like to see Mirra find a warm home where she will always have someone to care for and keep company. She is truly lovable, friendly, and well-behaved. When she sees her caretakers, she always gets very happy and wants to be cuddled and petted non-stop. She really deserves a home that can handle her personality and treat her as a full member of the family. Mirra is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and sterilized.

Mirra, sunia urodzona w październiku 2022r. Mirra to niezwykle energiczna i pocieszna sunieczka.

About Mirra

What life with Mirra looks like

Mirra is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mirra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mirra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mirra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mirra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mirra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mirra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mirra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
