Adopt Mirta

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Mirta – our little explorer is searching for her great happiness 🐾❤️ Mirta had a tough start in her young life: Someone just threw her over the fence of our shelter in Greece. Luckily, she didn’t sustain any injuries – and most importantly, her cheerful, carefree nature remained intact. The little female dog is likely a herding dog mix – and with that comes some typical traits of these wonderful dogs: They are loyal, vigilant, gentle with their family, independent in their thinking, and often very laid-back. However, herdis are not city dogs – they feel most comfortable in rural surroundings or in a home with a securely fenced yard where they can move freely and observe their environment. Mirta is very social, friendly to people and dogs, open to new situations – but never pushy. She brings a wonderful balance of curiosity and calm. Puppy-like, she is playful, sticks her nose everywhere, and wants to discover the world. She knows nothing and must learn everything: from walking on a leash to basic commands to life in the house. For Mirta, we are looking for loving, dog-experienced people who appreciate her gentle, loyal soul, show her patience and consistency as she learns the ways of life – and give her a home where she can grow up safe, secure, and loved. Who will never leave this special puppy behind and make Mirta a beloved family dog?

About Mirta

What life with Mirta looks like

Mirta is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. in Stuttgart.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mirta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mirta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mirta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mirta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mirta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mirta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mirta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
