Adopt Mirtilla

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Name: Mirtilla. Breed: mixed breed Age: approximately 8 years old Size: approximately 45 cm Health: neutered, microchipped, vaccinated Mirtilla originally comes from Sicily. At the Canile/animal shelter, she was unobtrusive but always very reserved. Thanks to local animal welfare workers in Italy, Mirtilla got the chance of her life and was allowed to take up her foster placement in Bavaria at the beginning of November 2025. After one week in her foster family, the following can be said: Mirtilla has integrated herself without any problems into the mixed dog pack. She is friendly and easy-going with all fellow animals and seeks no trouble. However, she can assert herself if approached aggressively by other dogs. She gets along well with the cats in her foster family, simply ignoring them. Mirtilla has become quite clingy with her foster mother without being intrusive and enjoys human affection very much. Overall, Mirtilla shows herself to be a very lovely female dog ready to open her heart to her new people. Eating is her greatest passion, yet she does not show signs of food envy. We can imagine a home – preferably with older children or a present fellow animal – for Mirtilla, but she would also surely be happy as a single dog if her care is adequately guaranteed. Residence: foster home Bavaria For inquiries, please contact: Email: für Streuner e.V.

Name: Mirtilla.

About Mirtilla

What life with Mirtilla looks like

Mirtilla is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mirtilla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mirtilla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mirtilla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mirtilla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mirtilla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mirtilla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mirtilla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
