Ref. No.: h-korfu-mischa-f-0624 Update September 2025: Our sweet Mischa has been waiting for a loving home for over a year now. Why hasn't she been discovered by her people yet?! In the video from 09/25, she shows how well and relaxed she can already walk on a leash. Mischa is not a dog that pushes herself to the forefront - will she still be found by her family soon? June 2024: Mischa was found along with her puppies (Tiara, Tonka, Timos, Twix, Twister & Tyler) in Nissaki. The little family was only discovered because one of the puppies had run onto the street and was hit by a car. We agreed to take the puppies into the animal shelter for their own safety. When we learned that the mother was to be released back onto the street after spaying, we decided to take her into the animal shelter as well. Mischa is roughly estimated to be about 8 years old and approximately 52cm tall, weighing around 19.5kg. At first, she is a bit reserved with strangers, but after a short time, she warms up and shows herself to be a friendly female dog! She gets along well with other dogs in the animal shelter. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, and have an EU pet passport.

20251024 03 Mischa Oktober 2025 20251024 02 Mischa Oktober 2025 20251024 01 Mischa Oktober 2025 20250920 07 Mischa September 2025

About Mischa

What life with Mischa looks like

Mischa is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. in Ratingen.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mischa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mischa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mischa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mischa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mischa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mischa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mischa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
