Misiek

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

This sweet little pup has unfortunately faced some hardships in life. It seems that his previous caregiver didn't always have time for his little pup, and didn't care where he went or what he did. Miśku, left to his own devices, had to fend for himself as best he could, becoming a little Rambo warrior! From the start, he showed us that despite a difficult past, he can be brave and strong. At first, he was a bit wary, but now, he feels safe with us. Miśku often grabs at a sleeve or pant leg when someone gets too close. This is his way of proving that he can defend himself against the world. However, as soon as he gains your trust, he will become the most sensitive and loyal companion. He eagerly takes every opportunity to jump into your lap. He can be a bit jealous, which only proves how much he needs a constant friend who will share love and care with him. volunteer Ania on Miśku: "Don't let his gray whiskers fool you – Misiek is a real energy volcano! Though he's no longer a puppy, many a younger dog would be envious of his energy, enthusiasm, and zest for life. If Miśku were to answer what was most important in life, he would undoubtedly say a ball. Second would be a person, cuddles, and shared play. And third… probably another ball. Dog and cat company are not in his taste – he prefers to have a person all to himself. Chasing balls is Miska's absolute favorite pastime. This little pup is a true perpetuum mobile when it comes to running after a ball – in fact, it's usually the volunteer who gets tired first, not Misiek. Besides, he's a true ball hog, who, when he wants to be cuddled, will land on your lap himself. Misiek is always in a good mood and ready for shared adventures. He just needs one thing – a home… Though Misiek is a born optimist, he realizes that as a black, not-young pup, he's not in the best position. That's why we ask very much – help us find a home for Miśku! Miśku is a small, compact pup who will be an excellent companion. Whoever adopts Miśku will get a daily dose of positive energy, like in a bank!

PL·Show original

About Misiek

What life with Misiek looks like

Misiek is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Skałowo in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Misiek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Misiek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Skałowo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Misiek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Misiek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Skałowo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Misiek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Misiek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Skałowo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Misiek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
