Miss Daisy

Mixed Breed · Female

Miss Daisy repeatedly arrived at our animal shelter as a stray dog and was unfortunately not picked up this time. The 13-year-old small terrier knows exactly what she wants and when she wants it. Despite her delicate appearance, she has a strong will behind her ears and makes the world the way she likes it. If she doesn't get her way, she certainly brings out the heavy artillery - the dachshund look and a loud voice, because eventually this makes most people weak and Miss Daisy reaches her goal. Frustration tolerance is an unknown word for the shrewd terrier grandma. When displeasure arises, she comments on it with a little song of dissatisfaction and starts a discussion in which Miss Daisy proves her manipulation skills. Miss Daisy does not want to be alone, and at certain moments she needs assistance from humans to find peace. The future owner of Miss Daisy must be aware that the dog has reinforced her behavior through appropriate learning experiences over 13 years and that it takes a lot of consistency, nerves, and perseverance to "overwrite" already learned behavior and strategies with something new. Additionally, it should be noted that Miss Daisy's hearing and vision are limited due to her age and that she is gradually developing age-related senility, which does not mean that the dog no longer has potential for development, but rather that she will have limitations in certain areas. People should have understanding, the willingness to accept Miss Daisy's peculiarities, and help the little lady through daily life if necessary. Physically, Miss Daisy is fit and enjoys walks with humans. The dog shows no fear of environmental stimuli so far. In social contact, Miss Daisy is self-confident, sometimes even a bit too forward and persistent. For a relaxed coexistence without much commotion and without anyone being pressured, initial guidance from the human is necessary. We are looking for people who have a heart for gray faces and want to give this special grandmother a last loving home where she can be herself, find peace and security. People who want to continue exploring the world with Miss Daisy and appreciate the magic of old dogs. We can imagine Miss Daisy well with active retirees, and we think that somewhat older children would not be a problem. The compatibility with cats has not been tested yet. ©Animal Protection Association Brandenburg an der Havel e.V. © Animal Protection Association Brandenburg an der Havel e.V. | Legal Notice | Privacy Policy

| Impressum | Datenschutz

About Miss Daisy

What life with Miss Daisy looks like

Miss Daisy is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Brandenburg an der Havel in Brandenburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Miss Daisy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Miss Daisy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Brandenburg an der Havel handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Miss Daisy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Miss Daisy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Brandenburg an der Havel will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Miss Daisy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Miss Daisy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Brandenburg an der Havel early rather than rehoming privately; they know Miss Daisy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
