Missie

Miniature Schnauzer · Female · Adult · 6 years

05-08-26 Missie is an apprehensive little soul who has come into our care from a breeder. She is easy to handle, but you can see that she feels uneasy about it and would much rather have all four paws back on the floor with her doggy friends. Missie gets on wonderfully with her kennel friends and relies on their company for comfort, so she will need a kind resident dog in her new home to help guide her and give her the reassurance she needs as she settles in and finds her paws. As Missie has never lived in a home before, she will need to learn all about house training, lead training, and other basics of home life. Missie will need a quiet and calm home that she where she can learn about trust and companionship. She can live with older, dog-savvy teens, aged 16+ who are sensible and will allow her time to settle in at her own pace. Missie is a gentle little girl who is simply looking for a calm, understanding family to help her feel safe again. With a friendly canine companion and plenty of patience, we hope she will continue to grow in confidence and enjoy all the comforts that a loving home has to offer. Missie has arrived with an ear infection. Our vets have flushed her ear and prescribed medication, and they will continue to monitor her while she is in our care. She has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Missie

What life with Missie looks like

Missie is a adult miniature schnauzer dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Missie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Missie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Missie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Missie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Missie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Missie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Missie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
