Mistletoe

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! We are unbelievably sad… Rest in peace, little Mistletoe… Her story: Mistletoe lives up to her name completely, for she is a little puppy girl whose heart conquers storms. With her large, curious eyes, she looks openly into the world and seems to ask who will show her how beautiful life can be. Her story began not under ideal circumstances: Mistletoe was found with her siblings and was lucky to be discovered and brought to safety in time. Now she waits for her personal happy ending to finally begin. Mistletoe is a real puppy gem. She is age-appropriately curious, playful, and friendly, meeting new situations with cautious but interested openness. Currently, she is a delicate lightweight, but is expected to grow into a medium-sized female dog. She gets along well with her fellow animals and loves playing and exploring the world with them. No less than the closeness and affection, she enjoys the company – cuddles are simply great. Whether she knows cats, we unfortunately cannot say. As it befits a young female dog, Mistletoe still has a lot to learn. She is an uncharted page and deserves to learn step by step everything that belongs to a relaxed puppy life. Leash manners, house training, and being left alone still need to be practiced and require patience, loving guidance, and time. Puberty will not be missing – with all its small challenges, cheeky ideas, and testing of boundaries. But with consistency, humor, and a lot of heart, Mistletoe will develop into a wonderful companion who brings joy to her people. Mistletoe travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with her EU pet passport to her new home. Even with a foster home, the little explorer would be very happy. Who will take Mistletoe by the paw and go through life with her? Many thanks to Claudia and Jörg B.! You have given Mistletoe her name!

About Mistletoe

What life with Mistletoe looks like

Mistletoe is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mistletoe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mistletoe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mistletoe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mistletoe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mistletoe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mistletoe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mistletoe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
