Misu

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 7 years

I’m Misu, a velvet-pawed cat who’s had far too much bad luck in life and is now searching for her happy ending. Here’s my story: I’m now at the shelter for the third time, because my relationships with humans just never worked out. Unfortunately, it’s not known exactly where I came from. Most likely, I was separated from my mother and siblings far too early and ended up in a home where they really didn’t know how to handle me. Before I’d even turned one year old, I gave birth to a litter of kittens, whom I defended with everything I had. My first owners couldn’t understand this behavior, so they gave me up to the shelter. Once I arrived at the shelter, it took me a moment to get my bearings. Luckily, I quickly found a new home—where another velvet-pawed cat was even waiting for me. But that joyful anticipation wasn’t mutual, since I’d never experienced living with other cats before. In the end, we mostly lived like roommates, each going our own way. For several years, everything went well—but then my behavior changed abruptly. Because of my sensitivity to noises, I get startled very easily and often feel afraid of the unknown. There were instances when I attacked, accidentally hurting my people. I didn’t mean to be aggressive, but at that moment, I simply didn’t know how else to cope. So I ended up back at the shelter again, as cohabitation seemed impossible once more. The second time around, I was placed in a shelter section that specializes in working with cats like me. I adjusted well there and showed no unusual behavior, so I quickly found a new home once more. With my most recent owner, it took me some time to settle in. After initial difficulties, things actually looked good for me—but unfortunately, even here there were repeated situations where, out of sheer fright, I attacked my human. Now I’m at the shelter for the third time already, and I’m finally hoping for my happy ending. What I wish for is… a home where people understand me and know how to deal with my fears. It would be great if my future humans were already familiar with behavioral issues. I don’t want to feel pressured, and I need security to feel comfortable. A spacious apartment with a secure balcony would be ideal for me. Importantly: I don’t want to share my home with other cats. A household with children would also not be suitable for me. Could you help me find my happy ending? Surely there’s a perfect home out there for me too—I firmly believe it.

About Misu

What life with Misu looks like

Misu is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Misu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Misu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Misu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Misu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Misu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Misu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Misu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
