adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Mitch can stay forever in his foster home! His story: The 7 siblings Amika, Naya, Lilie, Mitch, Mayla, Kiara, and Anelo were taken in by our animal protectors at a local spay/neuter project. Now, the little ones are waiting in a private foster home in Cluj, hoping to find their very own home and can't wait to explore the beautiful sides of the world! Mitch might be a little reserved at first, but once he realizes that no one wants to harm him, he opens up to be a typical, curious puppy. He loves playing with his siblings and having a good romp. Especially outdoors, he really comes alive – everything is new and exciting, and he wants to explore his surroundings with great enthusiasm. After exciting adventures, Mitch enjoys the affection of his trusted people. Then he shows his cuddly side and likes to snuggle up. Once Mitch has built trust, he is open and friendly to all people. He also gets along excellently with other dogs. His behavior towards cats has not yet been tested, but as he is still very young, a harmonious coexistence with a cautious adaptation might be possible. His new family should also be aware that Mitch does not yet know the life in a loving family. He still has to learn the whole puppy ABC and puberty is still ahead of him. Here, he needs people who approach with love and patience, and possibly also attend some positively working dog training classes with him and forgive him one or two mishaps. Leash walking, house training, and being alone are still foreign words to him. During puberty, he will certainly test boundaries and perhaps even forget some things he has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Mitch will definitely be a great life partner. Mitch is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He brings an EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive Nina-Lou! You named Mitch! Date: 24.01.

Vielen Dank Nina-Lou! Du hast Mitch seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 24.01.2025

About Mitch

What life with Mitch looks like

Mitch is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mitch, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mitch?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mitch on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mitch if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mitch already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mitch isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mitch and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
