A MIU was found on the street in February 2025, in critical condition. She was extremely thin - weighing only 11 kg, 4 kg less than now - and had almost no fur. After a veterinary assessment, she was diagnosed with leishmaniasis and heartworm disease. She first started treatment for leishmaniasis with Milteforan for a month, and since then has taken Alopurinol (half a tablet per day) daily, which she will need to continue taking continuously. From the first stage of treatment, we noticed significant improvements: she gained weight and her fur started to grow back. Today, she is a different dog. The treatment for heartworm disease followed, and it is now in its final stage. MIU is an example of resilience. She overcame difficult challenges with admirable strength - and that is why we believe she deserves this fight to end with a happy ending: a safe and loving home. Unfortunately, MIU is very shy with strangers and there is a risk she might try to escape while she gets used to a new house. She just needs time, patience and lots of love. She is sociable and playful with other dogs, and loves canine company. She walks well on a leash. The life of MIU has not been easy, but she still has many years ahead of her and great potential to be happy. All she needs is a family. MIU will be delivered vaccinated, dewormed, spayed and with a microchip.

A Miu foi encontrada na rua em Fevereiro de 2025, em estado crítico. Estava extremamente magra — pesava apenas 11 kg, menos 4 kg do que hoje — e quase não tinha pelo. Após avaliação veterinária, foi diagnosticada com leishmaniose e dirofilariose. Iniciou primeiro o tratamento para a leishmaniose, com Milteforan durante um mês e, desde então, toma diariamente Alopurinol (meio comprimido por dia), que deverá manter de forma contínua. Logo na primeira fase do tratamento notámos melhorias significativas: recuperou peso e o pelo começou a crescer. Hoje, parece outro cão. Seguiu-se o tratamento para a dirofilariose, que está agora na fase final. A Miu é um exemplo de resiliência. Superou desafios difíceis com uma força admirável — e por isso acreditamos que ela merece que esta luta termine com um final feliz: um lar seguro e cheio de amor. Infelizmente, a Miu é muito tímida com pessoas desconhecidas e existe o risco de tentar fugir enquanto se habitua a uma nova casinha. Só precisa de tempo, paciência e muito carinho. Sociável e brincalhona com outros cães, adora a companhia canina. Anda bem à trela. A vida da Miu não tem sido fácil, mas ela ainda tem muitos anos pela frente e um enorme potencial para ser feliz. Só lhe falta uma família. A Miu será entregue vacinada, desparasitada, esterilizada e com microchip.
