Molly

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Molly is looking for an adult only home with no other pets. She will require outdoor access. Molly came to us through no fault of her own, and has found it a real struggle adapting to her new surroundings. We know that Molly was happy in her previous home, living with adults and children that she knew and was used to, but she’s always found it challenging having visitors. She is used to a busy home but would spend a lot of time out the way. We’re still trying to get to know Molly, initially she was very frightened and unsure of her surroundings and all the new people who are looking after her. She is taking a little while to warm up to us, but we are definitely seeing gradual progress. She is slowly gaining a little more confidence each day. She now likes to have a little explore outside of her pen and has even rubbed against some of the staff members she is more familiar with. We feel that Molly would suit a quiet, adult only home that has plenty of space for her to take herself off to if she needs. She needs a patient and understanding family that are willing to build trust with her and know that it will most likely take some time! She may always be a bit of a quirky lady and needs a family who can understand and respect that. A home with experience of quirkier cats would be beneficial for Molly. We are already seeing positive steps in Molly’s progress and we have no doubt that she will continue to go from strength-to-strength once in the safety and security of a forever home, where she will undoubtedly reward her new family by revealing more and more of her true character.

About Molly

What life with Molly looks like

Molly is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter in Newcastle.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Molly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Molly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Molly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Molly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Molly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Molly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Molly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
