Adopt Moon

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

📍 Current Location: Vienna Moon is a neutered male mixed-breed dog born in November 2024, who was abandoned as a puppy near the shelter in Svilos. Currently, he is in Vienna. Moon is a young male dog who immediately wins every heart with his charming nature. He loves being very close to his trusted people, sits with great enthusiasm on their lap, and enjoys any form of attention and affection. When he was still very small, he was allowed to live in the staff house of the shelter and was constantly surrounded by people. It is even harder for him now to have to live in the kennel. Moon is not just a cuddly bear but also an active, energetic dog who needs a lot of mental stimulation and exercise. He loves to run, play, and get a good workout. He gets along well with other dogs; he frolics happily with them and plays enthusiastically, especially when dog toys are involved. His behavior towards cats and other animals is unknown. For Moon, we are looking for a family or individual who has enough time not just for walks but for shared activities and clear, loving guidance. Ideal would be people who enjoy a lively, cuddly dog and want to consistently support him both physically and mentally, perhaps through varied walks, hide-and-seek games, and playful training. The male dog stands at about 30 cm in shoulder height and weighs around 9 kg. Who will give Moon a permanent home?

About Moon

What life with Moon looks like

Moon is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Austria in Wien.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Austria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Austria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Austria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
