Moose

Mixed Breed · Male

Moose arrived in our care after his human companion became terminally ill. Leaving them together for as long as possible gave them both the companionship they needed. Whilst Moose has adapted to cattery life, you can tell he is missing his companion. He’s a loyal and loving companion. He loves to have cuddles and will happily snuggle under a blanket or even in your fleece dressing gown. As if being a cuddle bug wasn't enough, he loves to play, and he even knows how to play fetch, but only with those he’s made a bond with. Moose will make a fabulous companion. Being a Sphynx, Moose has a lot of extra needs that should be considered before applying for him: • Regular pampering sessions including nail cleaning, ear cleaning and baths. • To be kept at a regular temperature all year round. He will go home with the heat pads he came in with. • Twice-yearly vet checks: Sphynx are well known for developing hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and whilst he doesn't have it currently, this should be monitored closely. • They are widely considered one of the neediest and most clingy cat breeds. We are looking for applicants who have experience with the breed. Please note the adopotion fee for Moose is £500.

About Moose

What life with Moose looks like

Moose is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moose, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moose?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moose on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moose if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moose already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moose isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moose and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
