adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Moose has found a new home! His story: Our sweet spotted-nose Moose is searching for a new family! He was already rehomed, but the family can no longer keep him due to personal reasons. The sweet Moose casts a spell with his wonderful nature and his funny nose. One can only fall in love with his appearance. The little guy is so cheerful and happy about everything. He gets along well with his fellow animals and also likes to play with them in the garden. Moose is already house-trained and can perform some basic commands. He has settled in well and learns everything very quickly. Moose was found on the street about 1.5 years ago with a femur fracture. He underwent surgery and was brought to our private shelter in Fantanele, Romania. The surgery went well for Moose, and he can now walk without any limitations. Unfortunately, Moose had to wait over a year before he was finally allowed to travel. And he is such a beautiful and affectionate little guy! Moose loves all people, is super cuddly, and is simply happy about everything. He has the perfect medium size and looks so magical with his speckled nose 🙂 Moose is only about 2 years old and has a pleasant size of around 50-53 cm and around 25 kg. Moose is described as clingy, loving, open, and curious. He shows a simple, unexcited nature and gets along well with other dogs. Moose could be a Labrador mix. For Moose, we wish for a loving home that fully opens its heart to him and shows him how wonderful life is. Moose looks forward to a beautiful life with people who take him on nice nature trips and also play with him using head and nose toys. Regular contact with other dog friends also makes him happy. A rural home with a garden would of course be a dream, then he could lie in the sun and feel good. Our Moose is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He has a valid EU pet passport and can be adopted. Do you give your heart to Moose? Many thanks, Claudia D.! You gave Moose his name! Many thanks, Corinna M.! You support Moose with a monthly sponsorship! As of: 08.11.

Vielen Dank Claudia D.! Du hast Moose seinen Namen geschenkt! Vilen Dank Corinna M.! Du unterstützt Moose mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! Stand: 08.11.24

About Moose

What life with Moose looks like

Moose is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moose, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moose?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moose on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moose if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moose already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moose isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moose and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
