Adopt Mordka

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Mordka has been in foster care for 2 years, and we are urgently looking for someone for her forever! Not all cats jump onto laps immediately. Some need to feel safe first. Mordka is just such a cat. When she came under the care of Ekostraz, she was very scared. She was afraid of touch, noises, sudden movements. Everything was too loud and too fast for her. Fortunately, she was placed in a foster home where no one forced her to do anything - she got exactly what she needed most: peace and time. And slowly she began to change. Today, Mordka lies next to her foster mother, calmly observes household life and demands petting. It's a big step for a cat who once ran away from every movement. Mordka is still very delicate and sensitive. We are looking for a calm home, without chaos and rush - one where someone will let her be herself and continue to build trust at her own pace. She would also do well in the company of a gentle, calm cat. Mordka is missing most of her teeth (they were removed due to periodontal disease), but she handles eating perfectly and functions completely normally. Mordka is about 4 years old, spayed. Tests: FIV positive, FeLV negative. You need to be patient in building a relationship with the sensitive Mordka, but we assure you that once you gain her trust, she will reward you with unconditional love!

Read original (pl)

About Mordka

What life with Mordka looks like

Mordka is a adult mixed breed animal waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Mordka far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mordka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mordka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mordka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mordka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mordka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mordka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mordka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
